Ichiro is a Yankee

When I first heard earlier today that Ichiro is officially a Yankee, I thought that it was just one big joke. But, after Espn confirmed it, I suddenly realized that this thing is for real.

I have mixed emotions about this because I have been an Ichiro Suzuki fan for the longest time. His sweet swing that almost seem scientific. I have also been a Yankee fan since the days of Jason Giambi who was the main reason I followed the Yankees. So, for the Yankees, my favorite team and Ichiro, one of my favorite players to join hands is quite a big deal for me.

At the same moment, I'm a bit disappointed because I think that Ichiro should've left Seattle a long time ago. The Mariners had been lacking great hitters to surround him for a good 8 years. Perhaps, it's just a bittersweet moment for me. I am, however, looking forward for Ichiro to get his ring. See, Ichiro is too good to not get a title. And, the Yankees can give him that ring.

The Time To Write

I've been having a difficult time trying to post a blog lately. My blogger account is giving me troubles a bit, but I'm sure it's just a technical problem. Perhaps, I'm just crying over spilled milk.

The Jeremy Lin Effect

What most people ask me is: how good is Jeremy Lin?

There many things combined together that separate Jeremy Lin from many other players. First, he's not that fast, but he has a quick first step that allows him to drive through the paint. It's like a pitcher who has a slow release, but then you realize that you can't hit the baseball. This is something that can't be taught. He just has it.

Lin is strong for a point guard at 200 pounds. Although he prefers the right side of the court, he can also drive into his left side when he really has to. His quick first step also allows him to catch a couple of steals. He is also a good passer and will probably average at least 7 assists per game in Houston.

Houston will be a good fit for Jeremy as the city is willing to wait for his development.

Busy People, Writing Scarcity

Despite my best attempts to write as many times as possible, it hasn't been possible. Firstly, I've been working and have been focusing on another career path. The writer within me wants to come out, but it's the other things that takes precedence somehow. Even on my days off from work, I spend so many time resting that the next thing I know, I've done no writing at all. Then, when I do wake up from a long day's rest, I relax and watch television, just trying to enjoy my time off.

I really can't blame people from not finding the time to crunch a couple of pages here and there. It's just sometimes too difficult to do.

It's been years since I've released a novel. It's been years since I've really taken writing seriously. I feel like there's just so many things I want to accomplish in life and one thing isn't enough.

There's a word in economics that teaches students that everything operates in 'scarcity'. In business and in everything else in life: we all want something more because nothing is enough. Writers want to write more. Businesses want more business, etc.

Friday, the 13th

It was a terrible day yesterday. Perhaps, it's the mere notion of knowing that it's Friday, the 13th that makes everything worser than it actually is.

Twitter

Dear Twitter Followers,

I've just started a new blog in blogger. I've been looking for a brand new blogging platform for awhile and I found that blogger is by far the best to use. It's the easiest to use for me and with a mobile feature, I am able to post on-the-go. That, I found fascinating.

The Reason For My Retirement

There are a few things that I had mentioned to fans the world over a few years back: I retired from writing to pursue another career.

Fast forward a few years, I realized that it was a bad idea because it wasn't fair to the readers of my old blog. Perhaps, if I wasn't that ambitious into achieving my other career, I may never have retired from writing.

But, that was the past. And, I would like to resume my writing career with a brand new sense of purpose. It's been 5 years since I published my first book and I would like to release more works in the near future.

Humbly,
Russell Pennwright
